Stand up for Beauty at CoverGirl and Win $50K or CoverGirl Goodies

How do you stand up for beauty, Gorgeous One?

Plus Size Clothing Magazine’s always on the lookout for new, innovative opportunities to ramp up the plus size presence in beauty contests, modeling competitions, advertisements, and public forums.

Lo and behold, we were sent an email about CoverGirl, and excitement ensued! It reads: “Take beautiful back. Make the switch. Take a stand. Tell us your story.”

The full-figured queens who’ve graced pages with CoverGirl warming their faces include Queen Latifah, Drew Barrymore (well, she’s been full figured at different points in life), and America’s Next Top (full figured) Model, Whitney Thompson.

You could be next.

Here’s the deal: create a video and let CoverGirl know just how you stand up for beauty. The prizes: $50,000 cash, or a year’s worth of CoverGirl products. We know you’re ready for the challenge!

The deadline for this one’s March 12, just around the corner, and we’d love to see your entry. Just 60 seconds of your time, Divas.

For inspiration, Ellen DeGeneres has her own slapstick “stand up” video at CoverGirl.com/StandUp. You’re greeted by a little red box with a “Play button–” all puns intended–in which it reads, “Ellen Takes Beautiful Back.” When the video begins, we see the wacky, adorable Ellen we know and love, chirping, “Who says pretty can’t be funny?”

Since 2010 seems to be the year of “Gorgeous Curves Ahead,” let’s continue to celebrate! CoverGirl’s asking for all one minute video applicants to stand up for the positive power of beauty, in whatever way(s) you choose, and share you beauty with the world. Big is indeed beautiful.

Contest Rules:

1. Entries must be received by March 12th, 12 P.M. EST in order to qualify as a winning entry.

2. Send CoverGirl a 60 second long video at CoverGirl.com/Standup showing them how you stand up for beauty. Some of their suggestions are: “with your humor, with your talent, with your makeup brush, with your volunteer work,” and more. The only limit is your imagination.

3. 10 finalists will be chosen according to: Originality and Creatively (30 percent), Adherence to Theme (30 percent), Entertainment Value (30 percent) and Video Quality (10 percent). You’ll be able to find video recording and content tips by visiting their contest website.

4. CoverGirl will narrow down all applicant entries to 10 finalists, who will all win a one year supply of CoverGirl makeup goodies.

5. Folks who visit CoverGirl.com will help to vote and decide on a winner. The voting begins on March 25th. According to CoverGirl, “Beginning 12 p.m. ET on 3/25/2010 through 12 p.m. ET on 4/4/2010 (the “Voting Period”), all verified Finalists’ Entries will be posted on the Contest Website and will be subject to voting by visitors to the Contest Website. Visitors will have the opportunity to visit the Contest Website each day to vote for their favorite Entry.”
